Used by You

This semester, I had to take a music appreciation class. Although I do not consider myself to be musically inclined, I enjoyed the assignments and learned a fair amount. One task given to me and my classmates was simple: write an original song. While this seemingly innocuous duty posed innocent, it surpassed my expectations, becoming a more difficult assignment than what I had been led to believe. Nevertheless, I accomplished the task, presented it in class, and have thus decided to share it with cyberspace.

Verse 1

There are so many decisions,
In this life to make.
What I'm going to be,
And who I'm going to date.
But I have read in the Bible,
about One who knows.
He will take my circumstances,
and his love he'll show.
So I've decided to trust him,
each and every day,
Not worrying about tomorrow,
I simply just pray:

 I want to go where you want me to go.
I want to do what you want me to do.
Though heartache and strife,
I'll give my life, for you.

I want to be what you've called me to be.
I want to say what you've called me to say.
For all of my life, Lord, I will strive
to be used by you.

 In the garden, where Jesus prayed.
His sweat became blood, but still he stayed.
In spite of the pressure, despite being God's Son,
He completely surrendered, "Thy will be done."
It's in the garden where we,
Become like Christ.
Laying down our passions,
And giving our lives.

Because I am oblivious to this world while I'm asleep, I cannot state with absolute certainty that I don't snore. I trust I don't. Snoring is an abomination in the ears of God. We Are in the Last Days.... And So Was the Early Church

  Having grown up around the Christian faith, I have heard throughout my entire life that we are living in the last days. This was often accompanied by an exhortation to prepare our lives for Christ's return. Generally, this topic would be emphasized when something bad had occurred or was occurring: a devastating natural disaster, a presidential figure who embodied the ultimate demise of America (because America isn't mentioned in end-time prophecy, right?), and the increasing lawlessness in our civilization. Inevitably, an appeal would always be made to the "perilous times" that Paul said would be present in "the last days" (2 Timothy 3:1). The Six Components of Contagious Content

In a recent blog post, I referred to a book entitled Contagious: Why Things Catch On, written by Jonah Berger, who is a professor at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. Today, I would like to offer a brief summary of the book and give his six reasons for why ideas, products, and behaviors catch on. But, before I introduce those six qualities, let me give a brief story that highlights the importance of reading and how one book can alter your life. Berger unashamedly admits that the inspiration for his career came from Malcolm Gladwell's The Tipping Point. If you haven't read The Tipping Point , you need to find a copy. It's pure gold.
